Tragedy today struck in Ughelli town, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, as an expectant mother of one allegedly killed her husband simply identified as Edafe over an extra marital affairs.
It was gathered that Edafe Unuakpor 27, was machete to death at Ekrejebor axis of Ughelli town by his wife, Faith Okiemute, 22 years old.
According to sources, the estranged wife after committing the crime, ran to the Ughelli ‘A’ Division Police Station for cover.
The source alleged that, “The woman was angry that her husband did not spend the night at home and after his return, she machete him in one of his hands and abdomen.
“She ran to Ughelli ‘A’ division police to report herself while friends of her husband rushed him to the Ughelli Central Hospital where he was confirmed dead.
“Angered by his death, the friends wheeled and dumped his corpse at the entrance of the Ughelli ‘A’ division of the Nigeria Police which led to sporadic shooting by the police to disperse the teeming crowd.
The source further revealed that Edafe who bought a new car to surprise his wife was also planning to park to his new house next week.
When contacted, the Delta State Police Acting Public Relations Officer, DSP Edafe Bright confirmed the incident.
A senior police officer attached to the Ughelli Area command who also confirmed the incident said; “Though they are not yet married, but the woman has a 2-year old child for the deceased and presently pregnant.
As at the time of filing this report, the suspect has been transferred to Asaba, the Delta State capital for further interrogation.
